Dr. (habil.) Maciej Bernatt, University Professor, is the CARS director and a head of the Department of European Economic Law, Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies and the director of ASCOLA Central Europe Chapter. He held visiting fellow appointments at the University of Melbourne, the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Munich), the UNSW (Sydney), and the Loyola University Chicago. He has received scholarships and research grants from several institutions, including the Fulbright Commission, the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Polish National Science Centre, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. In the past he worked as a référendaire in the Polish Supreme Court and in the Constitutional Tribunal of Poland as well as in the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, where he coordinated the Strategic Litigation Program. He has been involved in cases litigated before European and Polish courts. His publications appeared in, inter alia, the Common Market Law Review, the European Law Review, the Journal of Antitrust Enforcement, the Columbia Journal of European Law, and the World Competition. He is also an author of two monographs and numerous articles in Polish journals as well as a co-author of two leading commentaries to the Polish Competition Act and Polish Unfair Competition Act.

Doctor of Law. Assistant Professor at the Department of European Economic Law, Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw. She specializes in EU competition law and intellectual property law. Her current research focuses on the overlaps between competition law, intellectual property and regulation within digital markets and the data economy.
In CARS she is the coordinator of the Digital Markets and Big Data area and the director of the "CARS Digital Markets and Big Data Laboratory". She is also the editor of the Digital Markets Section of the Yearbook of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies.
She is currently involved in the following third-party funded projects: OPUS grant by the Polish National Science Centre (2019/2021) with a project entitled “B2B data sharing among European companies”; Jean Monnet Network grant (2019/2023) with a project entitled “EU law enforcement” - EULEN; EIT Food Seedbed program (2019/2021) aimed at mentoring agri-food startups, co-financed by the European Union as part of the Horizon 2020 program.
Before joining the University of Warsaw, she obtained her PhD in International Law and Economics at Bocconi University (cum laude). Laura was a visiting research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Munich) and at the Berkman Klein Center (Harvard University). She also clerked in the Competition and IP Specialized Court in Milan and is qualified as attorney-at-law.
