The 5th CARS Award ceremony, organized every year by the Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies (CARS, Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw), was held on 7 June 2016 in the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Polish abbreviation – PAN) (Nowy Świat 72, Warsaw). This year, the CARS Award 2016 was granted for the best monographs in the field of competition law and economics. Similarly to previous years, the Polish Bank PKO BP S.A. funded the Award, which was granted by Mrs. Justyna Borkiewicz, the Managing Director of the CEO's division of PKO Bank Polski S.A. in the company of the CARS Award Committee members. The Laurate of the CARS Award 2016 (Antitrust Award) was Prof. Dr. Cezary Banasiński - lawyer running his own law firm – for the book Dyskrecjonalność w prawie antymonopolowym (Wolters Kluwer, Warszawa 2015). Other CARS Award 2016 nominees were: dr. Ł. Grzejdziak, prof. R. Molski, dr. P. Semeniuk and prof. Anna Piszcz.
