The third conference of the series under the common title ‘What competition model in the energy sector?’, co-organized by the Centre of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies and the Energy Regulatory Office, dedicated to energy policy and regulation of energy in Poland which became a platform for an intensive exchange of opinions by researchers and representatives of the industry.
The last of the series (Factors shaping prices of energy. Regulated and liberalized market – costs and benefits), held on 28 January 2009, focused on the problems of price regulation primarily concerning the factors influencing prices, costs and benefits associated with the process of liberalization. The discussion was led by Prof. Krzysztof Żmijewski (Warsaw University of Technology) with the participation of Dr. Mariusz Swora (President of Energy Regulatory Office). Presented during the discussion were the arguments in favour of upholding the requirement that all energy suppliers must present their household tariffs for approval by the ERO President . The necessity of the strengthening of the regulatory tools and role of the ERO President was also stressed as a very important factor for improving the competitiveness of the Polish energy market.
