The seminar, held on 14 June 2010, was organized by the Centre of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies and the ‘Polish Airports’ State Enterprise (PPL). The meeting was connected with the presentation of a book published in the ‘Antitrust and Regulatory Studies and Monographs’ series summarizing the results of the research project completed in 2009 by Airport services in the European Union and Poland – competition law and airports regulations CARS and PPL.

The seminar focused on the problems of airport services in the European Union and in Poland as defined and analysed in the research project. The discussion concerned primarily the problems of the definition of airport service markets in antitrust and regulatory cases as well as the scope and effects of the application of EU and Polish competition rules to the provision of airports services, mergers and state aids. Distribution of traffic between the airports, airports charges, slots, ground handling and environment protection were also considered. Last but not least, the changes in the relation between airport ownership and management in countries like Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal as well their possible influences on the emerging Polish airport service markets were presented and discussed.
