It is our pleasure to inform that iKAR No. 4/2019 has just been published. Its editors are Dr. Marzena Czarnecka from the Law and Insurance Chair of the University of Economics in Katowice, the Laurrate of the CARS Scintific Award 2019, the member of the iKAR Board of Editors, as well as Marcin Kraśniewski from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Łódż. CARS Honorary Award 2019 – Wielki Orzeł (Big Eagl) – for Prof. Dr. Andrzej Wróbel
We are happy to announce that CARS Honorary Award 2019 was granted to Prof. Dr. Andrzej Wróbel, judge of the Supreme Court (previously judge of the Constitutional Tribunal). Solemn presentation of the CARS Honorary Award 2019 took part at 24 June 2019.
CARS Scientific Award 2019 for Prof. Marzena Czarnecka
As in the previous years, competition for a CARS scientific prize took place also in 2019. We are happy to announce that CARS Scientific Award 2019 – Wielki Orzeł (Big Eagl) – was granted to Prof. Marzena Czarnecka from the Law Chair of the Economic University of Katowice for the monograph Obowiązki informacyjne a zachowania konsumentów na rynku energii elektrycznej. Studium ekonomii prawa [Information duties and consumer behaviours on the electricity markets], wyd. 1, C.H. Beck, Warszawa 2018. Solemn presentation of the CARS Scientific Award 2019 took part at 24 June 2019.
Conference on “European Code of Electronic Communication – implementation in Polish law”(24.06.2019).
At 24 June 2019, at the Faculty of Management of the Warsaw University took place the conference on „European Code of Electronic Communication – implementation in the Polish law”. It was organised by Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies of the University of Warsaw and Center for Legal and Economic Problems of Electronic Communications of the University of Wrocław. Ca 100 persons took part in the Conference. Papers on the scope and directions of changes necessary for the implementation of the Code were presented and the general panel discussion was provided.
GRANT of the NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE
We are pleased to inform that the Polish National Science Centre has awarded the University of Warsaw a grant for the implementation of a research project entitled: "Business-to-business data sharing within the EU digital market" (Opus contest). Granted funds amount to PLN 281 000. Congratulations to Dr. Laura Zoboli and Dr. Maciej Bernatt. The project will be carried out within the CARS Digital Markets and Data Economy Laboratory led by Dr. Zoboli. The project is interdisciplinary in nature and covers EU internal market regulation, competition law and intellectual property law, taking into account comparative law elements. The project will be implemented in an international research team.
Legislation Covering Business-to-business Unfair Trading Practices in the Food Supply Chain in Central and Eastern European Countries
CARS has just published a comprehensive study of regulations against Unfair Trading Practices in the food supply chain in Central Europe. Entitled „Legislation Covering Business-to-business Unfair Trading Practices in the Food Supply Chain in Central and Eastern European Countries", the book is the effect of an international research project organised by CARS and bringing together academics and practitioners from eight central European EU member states.
Guest lecture on Blockchain Regulation (3 June 2019)
On 3 July 2019 the guest lecture of Dr. Michèle Finck (Senior Research Fellow of the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich) on “Blockchain and Regulation” was held at the Faculty of Managment. During the lecture Dr. Finck critically discussed the main regulatory challenges arising from blockchain technologies. The general discussion with the audience followed Michèle Finck's presentation.
